Hair is made mostly of a protein, keratin, and it grows from the root, in the scalp. What you eat reaches it too. Carrots are one of those cheap foods, easy to find in Puerto Rico, that add to well-cared-for hair. Here we tell you what they provide and how to use them.
If you're interested in the skin on your face, we have another article: Carrots for your skin.
It's a food: it helps as part of a varied diet with enough protein, which is what hair is made of.
Carrots are also used in homemade hair masks. What you can expect is what any gentle mask gives: hydration and hair that feels softer to the touch.
A simple recipe: cooked, mashed carrot with a tablespoon of olive or coconut oil. Apply it to damp hair for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse with your usual shampoo. If you are allergic to any of those ingredients, don't use it.
Eating them is the best way. And to wash your hair, all the natural shampoos we carry are in Natural Shampoo.
