Burdock root, in Spanish, is bardana: the root of the Arctium lappa plant. Many people search for it by its English name and cannot find a page that explains it clearly. Here we tell you what it is, what else it is called and the forms it is sold in.
Burdock is a plant from the daisy family (Asteraceae), the same family as chamomile. The root is what is used, not the flower.
In Japan the root is eaten as a vegetable, cooked, and it is called gobo.
They are the same root. What changes is the form it is sold in and its concentration.
Burdock root contains inulin, a type of soluble fiber.
If you enjoy herbal teas, all the ones we carry are in Tea and Infusions.
