Organic Health Labs Armadura is a dietary supplement for men («Maximum Male Enhancer») in 60 vegetarian capsules. Each 2-capsule serving has vitamin D, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and zinc, plus a 900 mg «Male Endurance Proprietary Blend» with tongkat ali, tribulus, shilajit, DHEA, maca and other botanicals. The box directs 2 capsules daily: it lasts 30 days (60 ÷ 2). It costs $40.28, about $1.34 a day, with free shipping in Puerto Rico (from $35), or pick it up at our store in Galería Paseos.

What the box says

The box has one side panel in Spanish and one in English. The English side reads:

Its ingredients and what they do in the body

The vitamins and zinc (per 2-capsule serving). The box table lists five nutrients with their form: vitamin D as cholecalciferol, 5 mcg (200 IU, our own math; 25% of the Daily Value); niacin, 15 mg (94%); vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5-phosphate, 3 mg (176%); vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin, 20 mcg (833%); and zinc as zinc picolinate, 10 mg (91%).

The 900 mg blend. It has 21 ingredients and the label does not say how much of each one. The FDA labeling rule for supplements (21 CFR 101.36) requires the ingredients of a blend to be listed in descending order by weight. The first three on this list are Eurycoma longifolia root extract (tongkat ali), organic tribulus fruit powder and Asphaltum punjabianum (shilajit) gum and resin extract. The front of the box reads «Now with Shilajit».

The plants in the blend, according to the USDA. The PLANTS database of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) lists fenugreek as Trigonella foenum-graecum, an annual herb in the pea family (Fabaceae); flax, whose seed is the source of the blend's alpha linolenic acid, as Linum usitatissimum, an annual herb in the Linaceae family; Asian ginseng as Panax ginseng, in the Araliaceae family; saw palmetto as Serenoa repens, in the palm family (Arecaceae); ginkgo as Ginkgo biloba, a tree in the Ginkgoaceae family; milk thistle as Silybum marianum, an annual or biennial herb in the Asteraceae family; and velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens) as an annual climbing plant in the Fabaceae family. The box names the part of each plant: fenugreek, flax and milk thistle seed; ginseng root; saw palmetto fruit; ginkgo leaf.

DHEA and the amino acids. The blend also lists dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), D-aspartic acid and L-citrulline malate. The box does not give the amount of any of them.

The 200 IU of vitamin D is our own math (5 mcg × 40): the label gives the amount in mcg. Serving size: 2 capsules · 30 servings per container.
