What Bio Nutrition Advanced Glucosamine is

Bio Nutrition Advanced Glucosamine is a dietary supplement in tablets that combines glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM with turmeric, ginger and collagen: each 3-tablet serving has 1,500 mg of glucosamine (glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride), 500 mg of chondroitin sulfate and 250 mg of MSM. The box holds 90 tablets, 30 servings. It costs $30.06, about $1.00 per serving. Free shipping in Puerto Rico on orders from $35, or pick it up at our store in Galería Paseos.

Take 3 tablets once a day with a meal. The front of the box says «Supports Joint Health*» and describes it as a formula that may support joint function and be beneficial for people involved in sports.*

Its ingredients and what they do in the body

Glucosamine (glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride), 1,500 mg per serving. Glucosamine is a substance the body itself uses to build cartilage, the tissue that covers the ends of the bones inside the joints: it is a building block for molecules called glycosaminoglycans, which are part of the structure of cartilage. In supplements it is sold as glucosamine sulfate or glucosamine hydrochloride (NCCIH (U.S. National Institutes of Health), “Glucosamine and Chondroitin” fact sheet (2023)). This box has the sulfate form, bound to potassium chloride: that is why the panel also lists 193 mg of potassium (4% Daily Value), which comes from that same ingredient and is not added separately. The box's allergy warning is for shellfish (shrimp/crustacean).

Chondroitin sulfate (from bovine cartilage), 500 mg per serving. Chondroitin is another natural component of cartilage, and it plays a role in its resistance to compression, that is, in letting cartilage bear weight and movement without being crushed (same source). In this box it comes as chondroitin sulfate taken from beef cartilage. So, like the collagen, it is of animal origin.

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), 250 mg per serving. MSM is a small sulfur compound, also called dimethyl sulfone, with the formula C2H6O2S (PubChem, U.S. National Library of Medicine). With a molecular weight of 94.14, sulfur is about 34% of its weight, so the 250 mg in a serving provide about 85 mg of sulfur (our own math: 32.06 ÷ 94.14). The box lists it with glucosamine and chondroitin in the blend it describes for joint function.*

Turmeric powder (Curcuma longa, root), 75 mg per serving. Turmeric is a plant in the ginger family grown in Southeast Asia and India; the part used is its rhizome, the stem that grows underground. Curcumin, one of its components, gives it the yellow color, and the activity attributed to turmeric is linked mainly to curcuminoids (NCCIH, “Turmeric” (2025)). According to the Linus Pauling Institute, “Curcumin” (2016), curcuminoids make up 2% to 9% of turmeric, and curcumin taken by mouth is poorly absorbed. This box has turmeric powder, not an extract: 75 mg of powder would hold between 1.5 and 6.75 mg of curcuminoids (our own math with that 2-9%).

Ginger root (Zingiber officinale), 75 mg per serving. Ginger is native to the warm parts of Asia and is now also grown in South America, Africa and the Middle East; its rhizome has been used in food and in folk medicine since ancient times (NCCIH, “Ginger” (2025)). In this formula it comes as ginger root powder, next to turmeric, which belongs to the same family.

Collagen (bovine), 100 mg per serving. Collagen is the protein that gives tissues their structure: blood vessels, connective tissue and bone all contain collagen, and the body needs vitamin C to make it (Linus Pauling Institute, “Vitamin C” (2025)). In this box it comes from beef, in a small amount next to the other ingredients.

The other ingredients. Dicalcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide and pharmaceutical glaze: they form and coat the tablet. Contains shrimp.

These explanations describe normal body functions; they are not results measured with this product.
