Its ingredients and what they do in the body

Uva ursi leaf (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi), 1.44 g per serving. Uva ursi is a low shrub; the part used is its leaves. In Europe, the leaf is prepared dried and cut (as a tea), powdered, or as extracts made with water or alcohol (European Medicines Agency (EMA), “Bearberry leaf” summary (2018)). The EMA accepts it on the basis of its long-standing use: there is evidence it has been used safely for at least 30 years, including 15 in the European Union, and it notes that there are no clinical studies with preparations of uva ursi leaf alone (same source). That agency measures the strength of this leaf's extracts by their hydroquinone derivatives, calculated as arbutin (EMA, European Union herbal monograph on Arctostaphylos uva-ursi leaf (2018)). Arbutin is a sugar molecule bound to hydroquinone (PubChem, U.S. National Library of Medicine, CID 440936). This bottle has the powdered leaf inside the capsule, not an extract, and its label does not say how much arbutin it contains. The label links it to traditional urinary support.*

The capsule. It is plant-derived, made of hypromellose, a material made from cellulose: that is why the product is vegan. There are no other ingredients.

These explanations describe normal body functions; they are not results measured with this product.

    What the label says

On the front: «Traditional Urinary Support*». On the side:

«Uva Ursi has been referenced as an herbal remedy from as far back as 200 A.D. The name of the plant comes from the Latin "uva" (grape) and "ursus" (bear), referring to the fondness that bears have for the plant's berries. Today, Uva Ursi is traditionally used for urinary support.*»
