Its ingredients and what they do in the body

Virginian cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana). According to the species review of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, in its Fire Effects Information System (Anderson, 2003), Juniperus virginiana is the tree known as eastern redcedar, red cedar or aromatic cedar. It is an evergreen native to the eastern United States and Canada, growing from Nova Scotia and Ontario to eastern Texas and northern Florida, and it may live more than 450 years. By its scientific name it is a juniper (genus Juniperus), even though it is called a cedar. The scientific name is printed on the front of this bottle, which holds 1 fl oz (30 mL) of that oil at 100%, with no other ingredient.

Which part of the tree the oil comes from. The Forest Service explains that this tree's aromatic oils are found in the heartwood, the wood at the center of the trunk, which has about 10 times the oil of the outer wood. Because of that scent, its wood has long been used for chests and closet lining, and its oils are widely used in perfumes.
