Calcium, 500 mg per serving (38% of the Daily Value), as calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. It is a mineral. According to MedlinePlus, from the U.S. National Library of Medicine, it is the most plentiful mineral in the body: the body stores almost all of its calcium in the bones and teeth to keep them strong, and also uses it to help the muscles move and to help the nerves carry messages between the brain and the rest of the body. The label says: «Calcium and Magnesium are two of the most important minerals for pre-menopausal women and support the structure and function of bones, muscles and nerves.*»
It has calcium in its two main supplement forms, carbonate and citrate, as the panel shows. MedlinePlus explains that calcium carbonate is absorbed better when taken with food and that calcium citrate is absorbed well on an empty or a full stomach. The label says to take EstroPause with meals.
Magnesium, 200 mg per serving (48% of the Daily Value), as magnesium oxide and magnesium citrate. It is another mineral. MedlinePlus explains that the body needs it for more than 300 biochemical reactions, that it helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps the heartbeat steady, helps bones remain strong and aids in the production of energy and protein (reviewed January 2025).
Black cohosh root extract, 80 mg per serving, with 2.5% triterpenoid saponins (2 mg). According to the NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), in its fact sheet updated November 2024, it is a member of the buttercup family that grows in North America; the root or rhizome (underground stem) is used, it has been used medicinally in Germany since the late 19th century. It is one of the three ingredients the front of the bottle highlights.
Fish oil, 2,158 mg per serving, with 30% omega-3 (647 mg), from anchovy and sardine. NCCIH explains that EPA and DHA, the most studied omega-3s, are found in cold-water fish and in fish oil supplements. MedlinePlus explains that omega-3 fats are essential fatty acids the body needs for cell growth and brain function, and that the body does not make them.
St. John’s Wort aerial extract, 300 mg per serving, with 0.3% hypericin (0.9 mg). According to NCCIH (May 2025 fact sheet), it is a plant with yellow flowers used in traditional Greek, Islamic and Chinese medicine; the name refers to John the Baptist, because it blooms in late June. NCCIH also explains that it has been clearly shown that it can interact with many medicines, which is why the label warns about it (see the warnings).
Soy isoflavones, 100 mg per serving, with 5% total isoflavones (5 mg). According to NCCIH (April 2025), isoflavones are compounds in soy with a structure similar to the hormone estrogen.
Red clover aerial powder, 40 mg per serving. NCCIH (April 2025) explains that it is a legume, like peas and beans, native to Europe, central Asia and northern Africa, and that it also contains isoflavones with a structure similar to estrogen. It adds that research in people is not yet conclusive.
Asian ginseng root extract, 31 mg per serving. According to NCCIH (February 2025), it is native to Korea, northeastern China and far-eastern Siberia; the root is the part used most, and its most important compounds are called ginsenosides. NCCIH adds that traditional Chinese medicine has used it as a calming agent and as an adaptogen. The label says ginseng has been traditionally used as a revitalizing tonic*.
Vitex (chasteberry, Vitex agnus-castus) 10:1 fruit extract, 20 mg per serving. According to NCCIH (April 2025), it is a shrub native to the Mediterranean and Central Asia. The label names it, with black cohosh and red clover, among its «women’s health herbs»*.
BioPerine® Complex, 6 mg per serving: BioPerine® black pepper fruit extract (95% piperine) and ginger rhizome extract (5% gingerols). The label says: «Our special BioPerine Complex enhances the bioavailability, absorption and potency of many nutrients.*»
