Its ingredients and what they do in the body

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) root extract, 500 mg per capsule. According to the NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), in its “Ashwagandha” fact sheet, ashwagandha is an evergreen shrub found in parts of India, Africa and the Middle East, and it has been used as a medicinal plant for thousands of years, especially in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. NCCIH adds that ashwagandha supplements typically contain root, leaf, or root and leaf extracts; this bottle states that its extract comes from the root. It is also known as Indian ginseng. The label puts it this way: «The usage of Ashwagandha dates back over 3,000 years. It is a traditional ayurvedic herbal that is native to India, the Middle East, and Africa. Ashwagandha is traditionally used as an adaptogen and helps reduce stress.*»

Withanolides, 17.5 mg per capsule (extract standardized to 3.5%). NCCIH explains that ashwagandha contains several bioactive compounds, including a group of substances known as withanolides. “Standardized to 3.5%” means the label states how much withanolide the extract has: 3.5% of 500 mg is 17.5 mg per capsule, as the panel shows. At 2 to 3 capsules a day, that is 35 to 52.5 mg of withanolides a day (our math).

    What sets it apart:

It is a root extract with its withanolides stated (3.5%, 17.5 mg per capsule), as the panel shows. According to NCCIH, ashwagandha studies have used a wide variety of preparations, and supplements may contain root, leaf or both. According to an analysis from the University of Mississippi National Center for Natural Products Research (Avula and others, Phytotherapy Research, 2026, PubMed 41386716), traditional use of ashwagandha is root-only and the chemistry of its withanolides changes with the part of the plant; of 25 supplements bought in commerce, only 2 were confirmed as root-derived, while the rest contained aerial parts of the plant (the parts that grow above ground), disclosed or not. The study summary does not name brands: what is known about this bottle is what its label states, root extract with the TRU-ID Certified Authentic seal.

These explanations describe normal body functions; they are not results measured with this product.
