What Source Naturals ArcticPure Omega-3 is

Source Naturals ArcticPure Enteric Coated Ultra Potency Omega-3 is concentrated fish oil (anchovy) in enteric-coated softgels: each softgel has 850 mg of omega-3, with 450 mg of EPA and 340 mg of DHA, and the bottle holds 30 softgels. The label says 1 softgel twice daily with meals, so the bottle lasts 15 days (our math). It costs $12.50, about $0.42 per softgel and $0.83 per day (our math). Free shipping in Puerto Rico on orders from $35, or pick it up at our store in Galería Paseos.

Its ingredients and what they do in the body

EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), 450 mg per softgel. According to the NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), in its “Omega-3 Supplements: In Depth” fact sheet (November 2024), most of the research on omega-3s has focused on EPA and DHA, which are found in seafood, especially cold-water fish such as salmon, mackerel and tuna, and in fish oil supplements; another omega-3, ALA, comes from certain plant oils such as flaxseed oil. In this softgel, the EPA comes from the anchovy oil concentrate: 450 mg per softgel and 900 mg a day at 2 softgels (our math).

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), 340 mg per softgel. DHA is the other fish omega-3 that has been studied the most, according to NCCIH. MedlinePlus, from the U.S. National Library of Medicine, in its page on polyunsaturated fats, explains that omega-3 and omega-6 fats are essential fatty acids the body needs for brain function and cell growth, and that the body does not make them, so you must get them from food. This softgel has 340 mg of DHA, 680 mg a day at 2 softgels (our math).

ArcticPure® fish oil concentrate, 1.25 g per softgel, from anchovy. It is the source of the omega-3 in this softgel: those 1.25 g yield 450 mg of EPA, 340 mg of DHA and 60 mg of other omega-3 essential fatty acids, 850 mg in total, as the panel shows. That is about 68% of the concentrate (our math). The label says it comes from fish (anchovy) and that ArcticPure® goes through a series of molecular distillation processes to extract and concentrate the fatty acids from the raw oil.

The label describes it this way (text confirmed according to the manufacturer, on the label it publishes at sourcenaturals.com for this same code): «Fish oils with EPA and DHA support the healthy functions of the brain, joints, and circulatory system. This enteric-coated, high potency softgel is digested in the intestine, not the stomach, for additional, focused benefits to the small intestines and colon. It contains a potent 850 mg of omega-3. ArcticPure® uses a series of advanced molecular distillation processes to extract and concentrate the beneficial fatty acids from the raw oil, resulting in a product of outstanding purity. The state-of-the-art encapsulation ensures an oil as pure as any oil available worldwide.*»
