    What Bach Rescue Pastilles are

Bach RESCUE® Pastilles are orange and elderflower flavored homeopathic pastilles, in a 50 g (1.7 oz) tin with 35 pastilles. Each pastille has the five flower essences of the RESCUE blend, each at a 5X (HPUS) dilution. You dissolve 1 pastille in the mouth as required. It costs $15.90, about $0.45 per pastille (15.90 ÷ 35). The front of the tin reads: «Bach Original Flower Remedies · RESCUE® PASTILLES · Orange & Elderflower Flavor · NATURAL STRESS RELIEF*† · Trusted worldwide for generations · Homeopathic». The back reads: «†Natural active ingredients».

What they are for, according to the tin

Its ingredients and what they do in the body

The tin reads «Active Ingredients Each 5X (HPUS)»: each of the five flowers is at a 5X homeopathic dilution, and HPUS stands for the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States. According to The Bach Centre (Mount Vernon, England, the house where Dr Edward Bach worked; bachcentre.com, read on 24-Oct-2026), the mother tinctures of each essence are made with the living flower in water. These are the five, with the state of mind Dr Bach assigned to each one, according to The Bach Centre:

Rock Rose (Helianthemum nummularium). According to The Bach Centre, it is Dr Bach's essence for sudden, intense fear («terror», in the Centre's words), and that is why it is an important ingredient in his emergency blend, the one sold today as RESCUE. The Centre describes it as the essence that brings calm and courage. In this pastille it is at 5X (HPUS).

Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera). The Bach Centre groups it with the essences for fear: it is for the fear of losing control of oneself and doing something one does not want to do. It also says it is one of the ingredients in the original blend Dr Bach put together for emergency use. In this pastille it is at 5X (HPUS).

Clematis (Clematis vitalba). According to The Bach Centre, it is for people whose minds drift away from the present into dreams of the future; the essence helps bring us «back to earth». In the RESCUE blend, the Centre says, it is used for the fuzzy, faint, light-headed feelings that may come in emergencies. In this pastille it is at 5X (HPUS).

Impatiens (Impatiens glandulifera). As its name suggests, The Bach Centre describes it as the essence for impatience and the frustration and irritability that often go with it. Within the RESCUE blend, it says, it helps calm agitated thoughts and feelings. In this pastille it is at 5X (HPUS).

Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum umbellatum). The Bach Centre describes it as the essence for the after-effects of a shock, such as unexpected bad news or any unexpected and unwelcome event, and as a comforting essence. According to The Bach Centre, it is one of the five in the RESCUE blend. In this pastille it is at 5X (HPUS).

The Bach Centre itself says there are many theories about how the essences work, that «little hard research has been done» and that any firm conclusions are just speculation.

These explanations describe the plant and how Dr Bach's system uses it, according to The Bach Centre; they are not results measured with this product.
