  • Calplex: what it is, what it contains and how to take it

    September 07, 2026 2 min read

People who search «what is Calplex for» usually want to know what it contains, how many capsules to take and whether it is available in Puerto Rico. Cal-plex, from Dr. Norman's, is calcium and magnesium in capsules. Here is what its label says, how to take it and what else is good to know.

    What it is

The bottle reads «Cal-plex Highly purified Calcium-Magnesium Formula», 100 capsules. It is from Dr. Norman's Natural Products, in Saint Just, Puerto Rico.

    • Calcium: it is the main mineral in bones and teeth.
    • Magnesium: it is also part of bones, and the body uses it for normal muscle function.

Calplex has both in the same capsule. It does not contain vitamin D or K2. It is also not magnesium glycinate, which is another form of magnesium: we cover that one in magnesium glycinate.

    What each capsule contains

    • Calcium carbonate (from limestone): 500 mg.
    • Magnesium (from limestone): 250 mg.

The label's table is per 1 capsule. The daily value is not established on the label.

    How to take it

The label says it in English and Spanish: «As a dietary supplement, for calcium and magnesium, take two (2) capsules twice a day.»

Watch the two numbers: the table refers to 1 capsule, but the suggested use is 2 capsules, twice a day.

    Label warnings

    • «Warning: Not for use during pregnancy.»
    • «Keep out of the reach of children.»
    • «Keep in a cool, dry place.»

    What it does not contain

«Guaranteed Free of: Gelatin, corn, soy salt, wheat, milk and egg products, sugar, starch or preservatives.»

It also says it meets: «USP Grade mineral formula», «California's Proposition 65», «Food chemical Codex», kosher certified, vegetarian certified and «Hypo Allergenic Product».
